Question:
How can I stay focused on my pursuit of the ideal life to work smarter not harder?
Answer:
Often times when we find ourselves working harder and not smarter it is a result of a lack of focus. When we are clear about what we need to accomplish and the initial steps we need to take we accomplish tasks in an efficient way.
“When you are clear, what you want will show up in your life, and only to the extent that you are clear.”
Dr. Andrew Newberg and Mark Waldman explain that the brain can only prioritize a few ideas and goals at any one time. “The clearer you become about what you truly love and desire, the stronger your conscious intention becomes, and this helps the rest of your brain respond in an organized way.”
We suggest taking a look at what you are currently working on – pursuit of passions, goals, new business ideas, etc. Start making a list of what you can do to start creating progress – taking action. When you make this list don’t get hung up on making sure everything is in its correct order because that will come next. Instead, just list what possible action you can take (and what other people may be able to do for you).
When you have completed your list, use the same technique you did when taking The Passion Test. Compare each item to every other item so that you can begin organizing it based on chronology. “Which should I do first, this or that?” Proceed to compare each item against the one that comes after it so that you develop a list of action items that keep you focused and efficient in your pursuits.
Working smarter is about focus. It is about fine tuning the process rather than haphazardly trying to take care of a lot of things in random order. Your brain works better with clear attention.
If it has been a while since you took the free Passion Test Profile, or if you have never taken it, now’s the time. Invest 3 minutes to find out how passionate you are, where you are blocked and what you need to do next. http://bit.ly/dehPJZ
