It's not an accident you love the things you love. It's not an accident you care about the things you care about. We are being guided all the time to follow the path that will lead us to the greatest joy and fulfillment.
When you take action that will move you closer to fulfilling your purpose in life, then you will feel turned on and excited. Joy will increase. When that direction has fulfilled its role on your path, then you will start to feel contracted, uninspired and unmotivated. That's a sign it's time to move on.
However, for many of us, the mental and emotional patterns built over time distract us or sidetrack us from what we really care about. The most common distractor is money. You believe you have to do things you don't like or don't love in order to earn money so then some day you can follow your passions.
This is what we call a "false concept." Such ideas keep you locked in work that does not excite you or allow you to give your gifts. While there is nothing wrong, and in fact, it may be necessary to earn money, it's important to make choices that allow you to at least do things you enjoy and where you can contribute something meaningful as you earn a living.
This is why we repeatedly come back to the secret that guarantees a passionate life: "Whenever you are faced with a choice a decision or an opportunity, choose in favor of your passions."
Today's Tip for Following Your Passions: As you are looking for ways to support yourself along the path to fulfilling your dreams, choose opportunities that are aligned and connected to your top five passions. Are there knowledge and skills you need to in order to live your passions fully? Then take a job that will allow you to learn those skills. Volunteer to help people and organizations who are influential in the field of your passions. Make yourself indispensable to them and you may find you have a paying position doing what you love before long. |
