"What you put your attention on grows stronger in your life." - His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
It's a simple statement, yet when we are surrounded by news of financial upheaval, wars, natural catastrophes and the other favorite topics of the news media, it's easy to put attention on what you don't want, rather than what you want.
This is one of the reasons why it's so important to surround yourself with people who will remind you, and support you in giving attention to the things you do want to experience in your life. TEAM - Together Everyone Acheives Miracles. We need each other.
This doesn't mean you should bury your head in the sand. The opposite is the case. When you experience anything which creates a negative emotional response in you (what we call contraction), that's a sign there is a chance to gain greater clarity. And as we know . . .
"When you are are clear, what you choose will show up in your life, and only to the extent you are clear."
Thus, when we hear news that is disturbing, or experience something that is uncomfortable, that is not the time to deny it or pretend it doesn't exist. That is the time to feel the feelings that come up completely. We can still expand to an even bigger level of living with passion as long as there is anything that we are afraid to face.
Yet, when we can step into the most challenging situations without fear or hesitation, there is a great power and strength that fills us. It is the power and strength of doing what is right, no matter what the consequences may be.
Today's Tip for Following Your Passions: Pay attention today to where you're putting your attention. Listen for feedback from those around you. Sometimes, our habits are so ingrained that we may not even realize our attention is going to the things we don't want. Others will notice. Pay attention to their responses. When your attention is on the things which bring more joy in life, you will find others attracted to you like magnet.
