The Global Passion Initiative Launched in Iceland

Add a Comment

This past week we were in Iceland where we launched "The Global Passion Initiative." On September 5 we introduced 250 Icelanders to the power of The Passion Test and by mid-day we had them up and dancing, smiling and hopeful. As you may know, Iceland came within a hairsbreadth of bankruptcy last fall, when its three largest banks had to be nationalized.

Janet had just spoken in The Hague at the Peace Palace as part of the World Peace Flame Forum the week before, so our first action in Iceland was to light the World Peace Flame for this beautiful country. On Saturday we collectively set the intention that lighting this light will server to usher in a new era in Iceland of sustainable prosperity.

At the end of the day on the 5th, we were honored and privileged to present the Global Passion Award to Vigdis Finnbogadottir, the fourth President of Iceland and the first elected female head of state in the world when she was elected in 1980. She was President of Iceland for sixteen years. Today she is the UNESCO global ambassador for languages, traveling the world to help preserve the indigenous languages of the world.

We had dinner with Ms. Finnbogadottir and were so impressed with her perceptiveness. She has a deep understanding of the power of language and gave us some very good guidance. She also agreed to be a member of the Board of Advisors of the Global Passion Initiative!!

During our stay in Iceland we also presented The Passion Test for Business for a group of executives, met with Ethikos, a group of top companies committed to promoting business ethics and corporate social responsibility in Iceland and presented The Passion Test for Kids and Teens to schoolchildren there. It was a fabulous week.

Our aim now is establish commissions in countries around the world to promote passionate work and living. Our vision is to see these commissions collaborate with one another to find programs and tools that will help their citizens connect with their passions and thereby stimulate innovation, creativity and maximum progress in each country.
